PSHE Association responds to Ofsted consultation

date-icon
19 January 2021

The PSHE Association has today responded to Ofsted’s 'Better inspection for all’ consultation, welcoming on behalf of our members the greater focus on personal development and safeguarding in the new inspection framework, which we believe will be a big step forward and bring much needed balance to Ofsted inspections. In our submission, we have called for:

  • A greater focus on aspirations and employability skills, starting at an early stage
  • A greater focus on preventative safeguarding through the curriculum
  • Subject-specific inspection surveys for subjects such as PSHE education to be reinstated
  • The expectations set out in the new inspection framework for schools to be replicated in the inspection framework for initial teacher education.

You can read our full response or visit the Ofsted consultation page to find out about submitting your own response by the deadline on Friday 5th December.
