Coronavirus: supporting pupil’s mental health and wellbeing

The NAHT union has published new guidance for schools on supporting children and young people with their mental health and well-being in light of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. The guidance outlines universal approaches for all pupils and targeted interventions for requiring additional support.

Some pupils will need this tailored, pastoral intervention, but all pupils will need a significant amount of support with managing their physical and emotional health and relationships as they return to school and beyond. The school curriculum, and regular PSHE lessons must, therefore, play a central part.

We are therefore delighted to have contributed to this guidance, which includes practical steps that schools can take to optimise their PSHE curricula for recovery, and beyond.

You can download the guidance document below or access an online version on the NAHT website.
