With the summer term now upon us, we wanted to highlight upcoming CPD and 1-1 support opportunities, as well as member resources to look forward to this term, all of which will help you meet both your pupils’ needs the needs and new statutory RSHE requirements.

CPD

We have a CPD packed summer term planned, including online courses preparing you for statutory Relationships Education/RSE and Health Education; training for those new to PSHE education, and for those charged with leading the subject; and training on programme planning, PSHE for pupils with SEND and much more.

These popular training sessions — including half-day and shorter, ‘twilight’ options — are designed and delivered by our team of Subject Specialists, and provide a wealth of resources and practical advice.

Latest 1-1 support dates and topics April & May

Our one-to-one online sessions give you the opportunity to meet with one of our Subject Specialists for advice and guidance as well as a ‘listening ear’ for your ideas and plans for PSHE education in your setting.

We’re offering our usual menu of session topics this half-term, with some bespoke options for SEND and independent settings, including:

• Leading PSHE education in a primary/secondary school setting
• Using the revised PSHE Planning Framework for pupils with SEND
• Leading PSHE education in an independent school
• Support with meeting independent school inspection requirements
• Implementing statutory Relationships Education/RSE
• What does effective PSHE classroom practice look like?

Coming this term

This term’s new resources and guidance will include:

• ‘Careers education’ lesson plans and resources, years 9-10 — ‘opportunities, strengths and managing online presence’
  Two new lesson plans and PowerPoints for year 9 and 10 helping students to highlight their personal strengths online, maintain a positive online presence, and understand how online reputation can help/hinder future career prospects.
• FGM lesson and guidance, upper KS2
  Dedicated lesson for upper key stage 2 explaining what Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is and the law in relation to FGM. The lesson will also support the development of protective factors — providing a framework for young people to speak up, seek help and report if they or others are (or might be) at risk
• ‘Fertility and pregnancy choices’ lessons for KS4
  Three lessons for key stage 4 and 5 students exploring: how fertility changes over time, and the different ways that people can become parents; possible outcomes in the event of an unplanned pregnancy and how to access advice and support; and the laws related to abortion — as well as myths and misconceptions — and options for help and support.
