Welcome back— we hope you had a restful break. We’re really looking forward to supporting you this term and beyond with resources, CPD and a new, improved website experience (more on this later!). See below for highlights and keep an eye out for plenty more Quality Assured resources landing this term.

We’ve just launched a suite of KS1-4 Health Education lesson plans, slides, resources and teacher guidance for Association members. This willcover food choices, physical activity & balanced lifestyles – including all statutory Health Education content relating to these topics.

KS3 ‘keeping safe’ FGM lesson

We will be launching a lower key stage 3 version of our ‘Keeping safe’ FGM lesson plan (see upper KS2 version) this half term, available to members of the Association. The lesson plan and resources — available as a PDF and interactive PowerPoint — will help you to:

  • explain what Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is, and the law in relation to FGM
  • support the development of protective factors that will help young people to speak up, seek help and report if they or others are at risk, or have experienced FGM

New PSHE Association website

We have some exciting features planned for the new PSHE Association website that will make it easier for you to find the support and resources you need and manage your membership. We’re planning to launch a BETA version for existing members later this month, and the full version will go live at some point in October. Watch this space!

New consent lesson plans and guidance; CPD on addressing sexual harassment through PSHE

Ofsted’s ‘review of sexual abuse in schools and colleges’ last term suggested need for greater understanding about consent.

Our updated guidance on teaching about consent and new lesson plans will help members explore this vital topic with confidence in the classroom while covering statutory RSHE requirements to do so.
